Wiota of Walnut Range Coos, was born to a first calf Heifer. The labor was unassisted out in our calving pasture, and she was a smart and spry calf from the get go. She was a beautiful, little 48 lb heifer. Her dam, PBJ Penstemon (reg. #64,030) has slightly larger than average teats, but we inspected Wiota’s teats as an 18month old heifer, and we were delighted to see that her teats appear to be on the smaller to average size for her age. At 18 months of age, we inspected her feet and it appears as if her feet might need trimming as she ages. Wiota loves to be brushed, and has received halter training as a calf and weanling.
Wiota’s dam is super calm and will eat out of your hand and has passed on this delightful temperament to this little gem of a dun heifer with great white highlights. Her name is “Wiota” because she was so small at birth, like an iota, but even though she was small at birth, she has caught up to the other calves and has a good frame. Her sire is the exciting white bull, Flatheads Wyoming (reg. #61,046). The W is for Wyoming + iota = Wiota (Forrest is quite attached to her and still calls her little wyo baby). She will make a beautiful addition to anyone with a small acreage or an established fold. She is nt821 negative. Crop ear negative. She is Bangs Vaccinated.
